Ever wondered what it feels like to walk on a cloud? Take a trip to the island of Santorini and you’ll find out! The first time I visited I felt like I was floating everywhere I went. I don’t know if it was the wine, the scenery, my then boyfriend ( who quickly became my husband after that dream vacation), or the blue sea but I couldn’t escape this feeling like I was in a place that was nothing like anywhere else on earth… and now is the perfect time to cue the music: “heaven is a place on earth” by Belinda Carlisle- lol.

All jokes aside, it is an incredible place and one worth visiting more than once! If you want a world class experience for your wedding, then you should consider Santorini as your destination. As this pandemic is slowly fading away, more couples are tempted to create a different kind of memory for their wedding by combining it with a vacation that encompasses more than one celebration. Since this will (hopefully) be your only wedding and most certainly the biggest celebration of your life, you might as well try to get the most parties out of it! Santorini has so many attractions and beautiful places to visit, the options are endless. My suggestions for a multi- party wedding weekend in Santorini will be featured on another post, but for now I wanted to highlight the best wedding venues that Santorini has to offer for your big day!

1- The lavish estate wedding!

Eros Santorini is a beautiful estate located on the caldera a.k.a the most breathtaking view in the world. The villa can host up to 350 guests for a seated dinner and 800 for cocktails. The grounds and the villa itself are exquisitely designed and were even featured in Elle Decor. The estate has a cute little chapel for civil ceremonies, so you can have everything in one location. This villa is the most perfect backdrop for your wedding and I can gush about it for days but I wont as I will let you discover it for yourself here. Eros is in my opinion the best location for lavish villa weddings in Santorini.

2- The beach party wedding

Laze Santorini is a modern and hip beach bar located on one of the best beaches in Santorini. You can rent the entire space that can accommodate up to 350 guests or just the pool area. This bar is already furnished with the most sublime decor. It is inherently a place to party. The space instantly puts you in a good mood. This location is recommended for those who want to have an elegant yet laid back affair. I also think that Laze would be a good option for those who want to have more than one celebration. This can be the bash before walking down the aisle.

3- La crème de la crème

Rocabella Santorini is in hotel terms the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons of Santorini. It is the epitome of splendour but also a practical solution for all of your out of town guests. Why not host them in the lap of luxury for a few days? You will not have to worry about anyone drunkenly getting back to their hotel. Instead, they can stumble their way back to their room in complete safety. The hotel is located in the most sought after neighbourhood of Santorini, Imerovigli. The hotel wedding venue is located facing the caldera but most importantly, the wedding will have complete undisturbed views of the most magical sunset in the world. Every evening, crowds of people gather at the tip of the island in Oia just to watch one of the world’s wonders; Santorini’s sunset. Luckily, Rocabella Santorini is near by and you can capture that amazing light for your wedding. It is worth noting that your wedding photos will be spectacular! Hire a photographer that can work their magic so you can save those memories for a lifetime.

4- The idyllic venue

Cavo Ventus is a wonderful venue for a wedding but more importantly a wedding designer’s dream! It can host any type of celebration. It is the perfect blank canvas to design your most memorable event. This is a villa that can be rented for a stay or just one evening for a wedding. The venue’s versatility allows to accommodate a variety of budgets. I really love this venue because the architecture is elegant and understated which provides a lot more freedom in terms of design, you can easily have a glam wedding or a boho one and the space truly does cater to both styles. It also has two floors so it can be the ideal location for a large wedding or a small intimate one as you would only host the wedding on one floor. This goes without saying that Cavo Ventus also provides a beautiful view of the caldera.

5- The intimate wedding or elopement

Micro weddings on the island of Santorini existed way before Covid and the perfect place to host them is at Dana Villas. This luxury hotel is composed of small villas and caved private pools overlooking the caldera. The wedding venue has its own private access and terrace, so you are completely secluded from the rest of the patrons from the hotel. The venue can host up to 30 people and is perfect for a ceremony reception combination. This picturesque venue looks like a Santorini postcard surrounded by white washed stone and the blue sea. It’s cozy and intimate, quintessentially Santorini!

There is so much more to discuss when it comes to weddings in Santorini, and unfortunately I could not cover them all in one blog post. Nonetheless, I hope this overview of some of my favourite venues will help you decide that Santorini is the best place to say I do…. and then give me a call to plan your wedding, haha!

Love is never cancelled!
